I'm being anthologized. I'm in the jazz canon.

Nine years ago, I wrote a piece on the jazz blog I used to run wondering why there weren't more Black jazz writers for what is historically Black music. Willard Jenkins stumbled on the piece eventually and asked to include it in a book he was working on. I said yes, then forgot about it. Years later, he asked me to do a Q&A and I did eventually, likely after procrastinating on it for far too long, but then relented and then forgot about it upon completion, too. Now, years later, the book is coming out through Duke University Press and I'm truly honored to have my work sitting next to legends, past and present like A.B. Spellman, Stanley Crouch, Robin D.G. Kelley, Amiri Baraka, and Angelika Beener. My name and work is in a book with these people. That's just silly. It's an honor, but it's mindblowing. It's a mindblowing honor.
