There's still a bounty of music but this week felt more like putting things in order than last week. Last week was unfiltered newness. This week feels more constrained. I think it works out. Nicky Shrire - Don't Think Twice, It's Alright I had been sitting on this album for a little while, waiting for the right moment to give it a proper chance. This track was one of those pleasant surprises that came up when putting my music player on shuffle, always a good sign for me. Enoch Smith Jr. - Love is Stronger Same case here, though Smith is often on my mind anyway. John Raymond - Onward feat. Gerald Clayton I haven't revisited Raymond in a little while. Also, the computer picked a Gerald Clayton song for this hour but I decided only to halfway oblige that decision. I think I'm getting the hang of this new computer system. Yes, the music levels are a little high but I think my coordination is getting better. Either way, there's a pretty good show this week. Ravi Coltrane - After the Dawn I want to ease you into the Flying Lotus & Infinity experience. It'll start more straight ahead jazz and then spin out. Austin Peralta - Capricornus 1) Still spinning out. 2) I hadn't played any Peralta in a while, unless you count all the straight up Thundercat tracks that have been online for a while from his impending album on which Peralta backs. I hadn't a clue what I was going to talk about or play today. Not only did I have a Line-Up to put together but I was also featured on KRTU's Jazz Break at Noon to talk about Nextbop and jazz today. Oddly enough, this all worked out. I feel good about the interview and I feel really good about this playlist. Vijay Iyer with Prasanna & Nitin Mitta - Duality I haven't played anything from Tirtha in a while. It's time to plug up that gap.
