Today has been a rather odd day. It's been a rather odd week. It's best not to go into it. You know what takes my mind off the oddity that is this week? Good music. I'm in this rather weird period where I have to focus on earlier releases from the year but I still feel compelled to bring you straight newness. I tried to do a good mix of both this week. Linda Oh - Deeper Than Happy I revisited Initial Here earlier this week and fell for this album all over again. THEESatisfaction - Juiced Philip Dizack - Grow There were moments on Dizack's End of an Era that reminded me a little of Christian Scott. Not necessarily in this song, which is great in its own right, but I knew I had to make a set with the both of them at some point. I felt I would have had a hard time putting this show together because I spent most of this past week listening to Flying Lotus' Until the Quiet Comes and Grizzly Bear's Shields . It really hampered my outgoing jazz ears to bring you the freshness. However, it seems I've been getting so much new stuff that if I just thought about it for a while, I could break out some of the freshness I've probably been hoarding for myself too long.
